Literacy: The Power of Picture Books with Infant and Toddlers

Before we can read, we read pictures.  Reading aloud every day with infant and toddlers is an important way
that we support the development of academics and literacy.  Additionally, reading with them stimulates
optimal patterns of brain development and strengthens caregiver-child (parent-child) relationships and “builds
language, literacy and social emotional skills that last a lifetime” (per Gurdon, American Academy of Pediatrics)
Let’s talk about some great books and how to use them to support our infants and toddlers.
